Meet WOX
In 2013, we submitted a design highlighting "Childhood in Hopewell Valley" to the Hopewell Valley Arts Council in support of their Stampede movement, which aimed to increase awareness and appreciation of the arts through a public exhibit of artist-embellished, life-sized oxen sculptures.
Our life-size ox, named WOX (as in Walks through Hopewell Valley) was selected for sponsorship by Hopewell Township, which allowed us to turn our charming design into a reality in 2014. The body of WOX served as a "map" of Hopewell Township with actual children's footprints walking through the town to popular children's landmarks including parks and playgrounds and elementary school mascots. The head, legs and tail were a creative mosaic of small children's toys and arts and crafts supplies donated generously by our club members.
